CANCER

My husband lost his job last July just three days after I went back to work full-time so we could rebuild our savings after paying for two weddings and college for our kids. We managed to stay afloat, but we depleted our reserves.  He searched and searched for a new job, but nothing came through. Then, in early June of this year, my husband came down with a persistent cough that landed him in the ER on June 28. We thought he had severe pneumonia, but it turned out he had stage 4 lung cancer.  We were completely stunned since he never smoked. Two weeks after the cancer diagnosis, my husband was gone. Now, I am left with no savings, a sizable mortgage, not to mention over $200,000 in hospital bills. I am working full-time, but I don’t make nearly enough to afford the mortgage.
